Charlamagne tha God says he would ‘absolutely’ endorse Harris

Radio host Charlamagne tha God said Monday he would “absolutely” endorse Vice President Harris for the White House, after previously not endorsing President Biden.

CNN’s Jake Tapper pressed Charlamagne on “The Lead” about whether he would endorse Harris after previously saying that both Biden and former President Trump were “trash.” The radio host noted he endorsed Harris during the 2020 Democratic primary and he would “absolutely” support her in the race now.

“Yeah, yeah, absolutely. You know, I absolutely would endorse Vice President Kamala Harris,” he told Tapper. “You know, I supported Kamala Harris in 2020 when she ran for president; I was out there on the campaign trail with her.”

“She was the only reason that I voted for the Biden-Harris ticket to begin with, and we have our disagreements on air and off air, but I think that she is the perfect person to fight in these unprecedented times right now. I would absolutely support her,” he continued.

Biden quickly endorsed Harris for the White House after announcing his decision to withdraw from the presidential race Sunday. Since then, Harris has clinched major endorsements and has raised $81 million in the first 24 hours of her campaign.

Charlamagne, host of the “Breakfast Club,” signaled last month that he would be voting for Biden in November’s election but declined to endorse him or Trump for the White House. He doubled down on his decision at the time to not endorse either of them, saying on ABC’s “The View” that the “reality is I think both candidates are trash.”

The radio host previously called on Biden to drop out of the race late last year, saying he would give voters the “ultimate Christmas gift” by not running for reelection.
