Amazon adds warning to ‘The Boys’ finale because of Trump shooting
Amazon has added a health warning to the season finale of “The Boys” in the aftermath of the assassination attempt on former President Trump.
A statement posted to Instagram by “The Boys” account and Sony Pictures TV said that any similarities between the season finale and the shooting during Trump’s rally in Pennsylvania over the weekend were coincidental.
“The season finale of The Boys contains scenes of fictional political violence, which some viewers may find disturbing, especially in light of the injuries and tragic loss of life sustained during the assassination attempt on former President Trump,” the statement read.
“The Boys is a fictitious series that was filmed in 2023, and any scene or plotline similarities to these real-world events are coincidental and unintentional. Amazon, Sony Pictures Television and the producers of The Boys reject, in the strongest terms, real-world violence of any kind.”
A gunman took aim at the former president during a rally on Saturday, grazing Trump’s ear with a bullet, killing one rally attendee and injuring two others. He was killed by a counter sniper shortly after firing toward Trump.
In recent days, President Biden and numerous lawmakers have called on both sides of the aisle to tone down political rhetoric.
“The Boys” is a fictional series on Amazon Prime Video that follows the story of what happens when superheroes “abuse their superpowers rather than use them for good,” according to the description of the series.
The season finale dropped midnight on Thursday and was initially titled “Assassination Run,” according to Deadline. The title is now just “Season Four Finale.”
“Calling all patriots! We will not allow this stolen election to be certified tomorrow! We must stop Bob Singer’s woke anti-Supe agenda! PREPARE FOR WAR!” the description of the season finale reads.
The episode opens with a viewer discretion warning, saying that the episode “contains scenes of fictional political violence” and any “similarities to recent events are completely coincidental and unintentional.”
