Former “Reading Rainbow” host LeVar Burton chimed in Friday on the recent fight in the House Oversight and Accountability Committee.

“Words of the day; bleach, blond, bad, built, butch and body,” Burton said in a post on the social platform X.

Burton’s post refers to a question posed by Rep. Jasmine Crockett (D-Texas) amid a chaotic Oversight hearing Thursday after fellow committee member Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.) came after her earlier in the hearing. The hearing was focused on holding Attorney General Merrick Garland in contempt of Congress following him not handing over the audio of President Biden’s interview with Special Counsel Robert Hur.

However, when Greene was questioning if Democrats on the panel employed the daughter of the judge overseeing former President Trump’s New York hush money case, Crockett chimed in, pushing back against the relevance of Greene’s words.

“I don’t think you know what you’re here for,” Greene said to Crockett. “I think your fake eyelashes are messing up what you’re reading.”

From there, chaos erupted as Democrats expressed their indignation with Greene’s behavior, and Greene kept pushing back.

At one point, Crockett questioned if “someone on this committee then starts talking about somebody’s bleach blond bad built butch body” would break Congressional protocol. Her question seemed to be a swing at Greene.

Crockett has said that Greene’s comments on her appearance show that she’s “absolutely” racist.

“She is racist. I mean, I don’t have any questions about that. Because, I mean, I don’t know that she’s ever attacked her own colleagues,” Crockett said.

The Texas Democrat pointed to the historic bad blood between Greene and fellow Oversight Committee member Rep. Lauren Boebert (R-Colo.).

“Her and Boebert aren’t getting along. Boebert has clip-ins in her hair. And Boebert wears lashes, too, sometimes — it looks like. I don’t know. But she doesn’t attack her for any of her [physical embellishments]. She doesn’t do that, right? But she decided to do it to me. So absolutely [she’s a racist],” Crockett said.

Greene later said in a post on X that “some people are upset about the scene from Oversight Committee last night, well I’m upset and disgusted pretty much everyday at the Democrat controlled [Department of Justice], federal government, and Congress in general.”
