Felicity Huffman reports to prison to begin 2-week sentence
Felicity Huffman is beginning her two-week prison sentence for her role in a widespread college admissions bribery scandal.
The former “Desperate Housewives” actress reported to the Federal Correctional Institution in Dublin, Calif., a low-security women’s prison, on Tuesday to begin serving her 14-day sentence, her representative told ITK in a statement.
{mosads}The rep said the 56-year-old actress will serve one year of supervised release — which includes 250 hours of community service — after her release.
Huffman had pleaded guilty to mail fraud and honest services fraud charges in May after paying an SAT proctor to alter her daughter’s scores.
“I accept the court’s decision today without reservation,” Huffman said in a statement last month following her sentencing. “I broke the law. I have admitted that and I pleaded guilty to this crime. There are no excuses or justifications for my actions. Period.”
Huffman was one of dozens of defendants in the case, which also included former “Full House” star Lori Loughlin.
Loughlin and her husband, Mossimo Giannulli, pleaded not guilty in April.
The scandal — which was dubbed the “largest college admissions scam ever prosecuted by the Department of Justice” — saw more than 40 people accused of paying large amounts of money to ensure their children were admitted into colleges.
