NBC caps off White House Correspondents Weekend at residence of French Ambassador

The champagne was flowing, and music was thumping at the residence of French Ambassador late into Saturday night as Comcast Universal and NBC capped off a busy White House Correspondents Weekend with the company’s annual after party.

The elegant affair featured decadent Hors D’oeuvres while top dignitaries sipped on cocktails until the wee hours of the morning at an event that quickly became a who’s who of the Washington elite.

“Do you think it’s even worth going anywhere else? Seems like literally everyone is here,” one attendee was overheard saying to another well past midnight.

NBCU News Group Chairman Cesar Conde could be seen sharing hugs and taking selfies with attendees while top NBC anchors and reporters mingled with sources and colleagues at CNN, ABC, CBS and nearly every other major media outlet.

Through a partnership with Ford Motor Company, the event featured Ford’s iRacing simulators, which allowed users to virtually race through the French countryside with Ford pledging to make a charitable donation in the name of the racers with the best three times.

NBC News’ Kelly O’Donnell,  head of the White House Correspondents’ Association, received one of the biggest ovations of the night as she entered the sprawling complex.

But no moment was more anticipated than the arrival of comedian Colin Jost, who served as the dinner’s entertainer just minutes before the party kicked off and was instantly swarmed along with wife Scarlett Johansson the moment they walked in.
