Dolly Parton lauds Beyoncé’s cover of iconic song ‘Jolene’
County music singer Dolly Parton complimented Beyoncé’s cover of her iconic song “Jolene,” after the R&B artist released her first-ever country album.
“Wow, I just heard Jolene. Beyoncé is giving that girl some trouble and she deserves it!” Parton posted on X, formerly known as Twitter, with a heart emoji.
Beyoncé released her new album “Cowboy Carter” Friday, which was met with praise from Vice President Harris and many fans, including Parton.
On the album, Beyoncé covered Parton’s 1973 song, which was ranked in Rolling Stone’s list of the 500 Greatest Songs of All Time in 2004.
Beyoncé described her album as “born out of an experience that I had years ago where I did not feel welcomed…and it was very clear that I wasn’t.”
The country album is meant to celebrate the singer’s Texas roots. She released a song from the album, “Texas Hold ‘Em” last month.
Spotify announced Friday that the album became the streaming platforms “most-streamed album in a single day in 2024 so far.”
“This is also the first time a country album holds the title this year,” the post said.
Beyoncé also covers The Beatles’ “Blackbird” and the late Chuck Berry’s “Oh Louisiana.” The album features Miley Cyrus and Willie Nelson, among other artists.
