The White House is rolling out details about one of its oldest traditions: the Easter Egg Roll.

The annual springtime event will be on April 1, the White House announced Monday.

Free tickets to the egg-filled festivities on the South Lawn will be available via a public lottery that will run beginning Monday and ending on March 4 at noon.

The White House tradition — which dates to the 1870s during the Rutherford B. Hayes administration — is “geared toward children 12 years of age and younger.”

Last year’s White House Easter Egg Roll featured an “EGGucation” theme and was President Biden’s second such event as commander in chief. The celebration was canceled in previous years due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The White House has yet to release information about this year’s Easter Egg Roll theme.
