Trump pours cold water on Michelle Obama White House bid: ‘I don’t see that’

Former President Trump says he doesn’t see a future White House bid in the cards for Michelle Obama.

“I don’t see that, no,” Trump said in an interview with The National Pulse, when asked about Obama entering the 2024 race, after remarking that he didn’t envision President Biden making it “through the starting gate.”

“I don’t see that,” Trump repeated of the former first lady’s chances of a presidential run.

The 45th president’s comments were a break from other prominent Republicans, who in recent days have floated Obama as a potential Democratic candidate.

Last week week, Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) claimed Democrats could “parachute in” Obama as a presidential nominee if Biden were to drop out of the race.

“I think in terms of a solution that unifies Democrats, there ain’t nothing like that,” Cruz theorized on his podcast.

Former GOP vice presidential nominee Sarah Palin responded to a series of election conspiracy theories on social media on Monday, saying that she believed Biden would be “out” in 2024.

“But I still say it’ll be Michelle O’ #2024Election,” Palin, Alaska’s former governor, said.

Obama has repeatedly denied having any interest in running for office. In 2018, she said, “I don’t want to run for president.”

“Just because I gave a good speech, and I’m smart and intelligent doesn’t mean I should be the next president,” she said at the time.

Obama reiterated the sentiment in 2019, saying there was “zero chance” that she would return to 1600 Pennsylvania Ave. as commander in chief.

“There are so many ways to improve this country and build a better world, and I keep doing plenty of them, from working with young people to helping families lead healthier lives. But sitting behind the desk in the Oval Office will never be one of them. It’s just not for me,” Obama said.
