The Killers apologize for bringing a Russian fan on stage to play the drums in Georgia
The Killers have publicly apologized for bringing a Russian fan on stage to play the drums during their performance in the nation of Georgia.
“Good people of Georgia, it was never our intention to offend anyone!” the American rock band said in a Facebook post Tuesday.
“We have a longstanding tradition of inviting people to play drums and it seemed from the stage that the initial response from the crowd indicated that they were okay with tonight’s audience participation member coming onstage with us,” they added.
The “Mr. Brightside” band also apologized for a comment lead singer Brandon Flowers made to those in attendance at the concert.
“We recognize that a comment, meant to suggest that all of The Killers’ audience and fans are “brothers and sisters,” could be misconstrued,” the rock band added. “We did not mean to upset anyone and we apologize. We stand with you and hope to return soon.”
Georgia, which has also dealt with Russian aggression, supports Ukraine in its ongoing war.
