Comedian Roseanne Barr in a recent interview expressed regret over the racial slur she used to refer to former Obama official Valerie Jarrett, saying she has become “a hate magnet.”
“I made myself a hate magnet and as a Jew, it’s just horrible. It’s horrible,” Barr told Rabbi Shmuley Boteach in an interview.
Barr said she feels “remorse” for the racist tweet she wrote about Jarrett last month.
{mosads}“Muslim brotherhood & planet of the apes had a baby=vj,” Barr wrote at the time, referring to the Islamist group.
The comment caused ABC to cancel the reboot of her show, “Roseanne.”
“I didn’t mean what they think I meant and that’s what’s so painful. But I have to face that, this hurt people,” Barr said in the interview.
Barr, who cried as she spoke to Rabbi Shmuley, said she accepts the consequences for her action.
“I am so sorry that I was so unclear and stupid. I’m very sorry. But I don’t think that. I would never do that,” Barr said through tears.
The comedian in the interview insisted she did not know that Jarrett is black.
