SNL’s Kate McKinnon adds Robert Mueller to list of impersonations
“Saturday Night Live” star Kate McKinnon added to the growing list of political figures she’s portrayed in recent months when she impersonated special counsel Robert Mueller on the show on Saturday.
McKinnon’s Mueller appeared on the show’s “Weekend Update” segment, where she played the special counsel as eager to share what he’s learned during his investigation into possible collusion between the Trump campaign and Russia.
{mosads}”I wanted to come out here tonight to assure the American people that our investigation is progressing smoothly and we’re looking forward to a timely and orderly conclusion,” she said.
“Obviously I can’t discuss particulars of an ongoing investigation, but, uh, we good,” McKinnon’s Mueller added, taking out a toothpick.
President Trump has called Mueller’s investigation a “witch hunt” and insisted there was no collusion.
Mueller’s investigation has thus far led to two guilty pleas and two indictments.
McKinnon has previously played Mueller, former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass.), Germany’s Angela Merkel and Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg. She’s also played members of the Trump administration, including Attorney General Jeff Sessions and Education Secretary Betsy DeVos.
Her imitation of Sessions reportedly bothered Trump, who told advisers he found it “insulting.”
Trump has frequently railed against “Saturday Night Live” on Twitter, specifically Alec Baldwin’s take on the president.
