Cruz hits back at Mark Hamill over net neutrality: ‘Fear leads to anger, anger leads to hate’

Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) on Sunday continued to attack “Star Wars” actor Mark Hamill in the pair’s ongoing spat over the future of net neutrality, quoting the franchise back to one of its stars.

“Respond not with facts, but with anger. Who was it that said, ‘Fear is the path to the dark side…fear leads to anger…anger leads to hate’?” Cruz tweeted at Hamill, quoting “Star Wars” character Yoda.

Cruz and Hamill traded jabs on Sunday over the Federal Communications Commission’s (FCC) decision last week to repeal Obama-era net neutrality rules.

Cruz urged Hamill, a net neutrality supporter, to “reject the dark side.”

Hamill quickly hit back, telling Cruz, “Thanks for smarm-spaining it to me,” and asking if the senator was “distracted from watching porn at the office again.”

Hamill was referring to Cruz’s official Twitter account “liking” a porn video earlier this year. Cruz blamed the incident on a “staffing issue.”

Hamill had criticized FCC Chairman Ajit Pai on Saturday for invoking “Star Wars” in a video defending the organization’s repeal of net neutrality rules, calling Pai “profoundly unworthy” of using a lightsaber.

The Republican-led FCC voted 3-2 on Thursday, along party lines, to repeal the Obama-era net neutrality rules, which require internet service providers to treat all web traffic equally.
