Rubio jokes about plans if White House bid ‘doesn’t work out’
Sen. Marco Rubio (R-Fla.) says he has a back-up plan if the whole “running for president” thing doesn’t work out: snagging an entertainment show.
{mosads}Rubio made the joke during a chat aboard his campaign bus with “Extra’s” Mario Lopez, saying Monday that his eye is definitely on the Oval Office. “If it doesn’t work out,” Rubio said with a laugh, “I’m going to try and land some sort of entertainment show or something.”
The 44-year-old lawmaker has long been a pop culture fan, particularly well-versed in the ins and outs of hip hop. Referencing chatter that the group N.W.A. may be planning a reunion tour after the success of last year’s film “Straight Outta Compton,” Rubio told Lopez, “I hear they’re getting reunited, except I think Easy E is going to be replaced by Eminem.”
“Oh so you’re still up to date,” Lopez said.
“Absolutely, I am,” Rubio smiled.
The senator also scoffed at a potential vice presidential slot, saying, “I’m not interested in that. And that’s not what I’m thinking about, either. I mean, I’m running for president.”
