Kanye 2020 gear hits the Web
He has yet to debut a campaign platform since announcing his 2020 presidential bid, but Kanye West already has some swag to help get his message out.
The Yeezus rapper, who’s married to reality television fixture Kim Kardashian, declared during an acceptance speech at Sunday’s MTV Video Music Awards, “I have decided in 2020 to run for president.”
{mosads}Saying he’s “not no politician, bro,” West admitted he “rolled up a little something” and smoked it before his surprise announcement.
Now, the Internet is already flooded with West-inspired gear.
TotallyGoodTime, a San Diego-based shop on Etsy, is hawking $18 t-shirts with a description that says, “Yeezy for prezzy in 20-tweezy!” The duds are emblazoned with the entertainer’s name and take a page out of West’s infamous interruption of singer Taylor Swift’s VMAs acceptance speech in 2009, saying, “Imma let me finish … first!”
Another Etsy creation actually gets Swift in on the 2020 election action, with the words, “West/Swift 2020.”
Red, white and blue “Kanye West 2020” pins are selling for less than $2 each on the handmade goods-filled site.
One seller in Australia says its $11 poster, which features an illustration of West made to resemble the famed Obama “hope” image, will help supporters “celebrate Kanye’s presidency announcement in style.”
And yet another shirt plays off of West’s nickname, “Yeezy,” and President Obama’s 2008 campaign slogan: “Yes, Ye Kan.”
