Fox’s Van Susteren skipping WHCD

Greta Van Susteren, the Fox News Channel personality who has a history of landing some of the most-buzzed about White House Correspondents’ Association dinner guests, will be skipping Saturday’s black-tie event this year.

“My husband John Coale has come up with a better idea for Saturday night — recovering from open heart surgery,” the “On the Record” host tells ITK in an email.

{mosads}Van Susteren invited actress Katharine McPhee as her guest to last year’s dinner. In 2012, Susteren and her attorney husband hosted tabloid fixture Lindsay Lohan at Washington’s annual soiree. Kim Kardashian attended the same year as a guest of Fox News Channel (after Van Susteren brought the reality star as her 2010 guest).

Other head-turners Van Susteren has hosted at Correspondents’ dinner festivities include Ozzy Osbourne and former GOP vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin.

It’s not the first time the Correspondents’ dinner vet will be missing the main event; Van Susteren passed on the 2013 dinner, citing a prior out-of-town commitment.

But a bit of R&R with her hubby won’t keep Van Susteren too far away from the action at the Washington Hilton. She tells us, “We’ll be watching the WHCD at home. See you next year!”
