Joy Behar: Boehner good at gridlock, headlock
After being put in a playful headlock by House Speaker John Boehner, comedienne Joy Behar quipped, “For a guy who cries a lot, he’s physically quite strong.”
The Ohio Republican and the left-leaning former “View” co-host came face-to-face recently in a restaurant in the Hamptons, according to the New York Post.
{mosads}It was a complaint about Washington gridlock that ultimately led to the headlock, Behar says.
“I couldn’t resist having some fun,” the entertainer told the paper. “I jumped up and told him to stop obstructing President Obama. I am sick of all this deadlock. Strangely, he replied, ‘I am Obama’s best friend.’”
Behar says then the 64-year-old lawmaker “put his arm around my neck and it looked like he was going to strangle me.”
The moment was captured in a photo posted on Facebook showing the two appearing to mug for the camera.
Behar, 71, told the Post that Boehner was accompanied by four suit-wearing Secret Service agents.
“Compared to everyone else in casual Hamptons attire, they really stood out. They looked like they were going to a wake,” she said.
