Sen. Fischer endorses Rubio

Sen. Deb Fischer (R-Neb.) is throwing her support behind Sen. Marco Rubio (R-Fla.) a day before the New Hampshire primary.

“He will be a strong commander-in-chief. He will keep us safe,” she told Fox News’ “America’s Newsroom” on Monday.

{mosads}Fischer, a member of the Senate Armed Services Committee, added that no one knows the challenges the United States faces in a dangerous world better than Rubio.

Rubio took third place in the Iowa caucuses and has been hoping for at least a second-place showing in New Hampshire.

During Saturday’s Republican presidential debate, however, he took some hits from rival candidates who criticized him for being overly scrupted.

Fischer separately told the Lincoln Journal Star that she’s “very excited” about Rubio and “would hope to give him a bump in New Hampshire.”

Fischer is the seventh senator to endorse Rubio, after Republican Sens. Pat Toomey (Pa.) and Tim Scott (S.C.) endorsed the Florida lawmaker last week.
