The Senate will continue working on the nearly 100 pending executive nominations, while the House considers a bill on suicide prevention of veterans.
The House will vote on legislation under suspension of the rules, including a bill, H.R. 5059, to require the Defense Department and Department of Veterans’ Affairs to annually evaluate their suicide prevention programs.
{mosads}In addition, the House will vote on a measure to provide relief to areas in California affected by prolonged drought.
The Senate starts at 10 a.m. and will continue work on nominations.
At 10:30 a.m. the Senate will vote to end debate on the nominations of Virginia Lodge and Ronald Walter to be members of the Board of Directors of the Tennessee Valley Authority.
If cloture is invoked, their confirmation votes are expected around 6 p.m.
The Senate will recess from 1 p.m. until 2 p.m. for weekly caucus luncheons. Quickly passing the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) and a House tax extender bill will likely be topics at those meetings.
