Members of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee will hear testimony from Liberian President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf on the Ebola crisis.
Sen. Chris Coons (D-Del.) will chair the subcommittee on African Affairs hearing on Wednesday titled, “The Ebola Epidemic: The Keys to Success for the International Response.”
{mosads}“Ebola has claimed more than 6,000 lives and continues to ravage communities in West Africa,” Coons said. “It is an honor that President Sirleaf will join us for this hearing and discuss not only her efforts to stop the Ebola outbreak, but to ensure Liberia emerges stronger and better prepared for future crises.”
Liberia has been hit hard by the Ebola crisis.
On Monday, the Senate Foreign Relations Committee will work on a measure authorizing the use of military force against the Islamic State in Iraq and Syria (ISIS) — though it is unlikely that the full Senate will have time to vote on the AUMF before adjourning for the year.
Secretary of State John Kerry is expected to testify before that panel.
