Senate confirms executive, judicial nominations
The Senate confirmed three judicial nominations and five ambassadors on Tuesday.
Leslie Abrams was confirmed by a 100-0 vote to be a judge for the middle district of Georgia.
{mosads}The Senate also voted to confirm Mark Cohen and Eleanor Ross. Both will serve as judges for the northern district of Georgia.
With Republicans taking control of the upper chamber next year, Democrats are more motivated than ever to clear as many of Obama’s executive and judicial nominations as possible before the end of the year.
The Senate also confirmed five ambassadorships by voice-vote Tuesday. A list of those nominations follows:
– Leslie Bassett to be U.S. ambassador to Paraguay
– Marcia Bernicat to be U.S. ambassador to Bangladesh
– James Zumwalt to be U.S. ambassador to Senegal and Guinea-Bissau
– Craig Allen to be U.S. ambassador to Brunei Darussalam
– William Roebuck to be U.S. ambassador to Bahrain
