Tuesday: Funding the government, Obama nominations
The House will begin the process of considering a stopgap funding measure on Tuesday, while the Senate will clear several of President Obama’s executive nominations.
The House is expected to vote on the rule to establish the procedure members will consider for the continuing resolution and amendment to authorize arming Syrian rebels to fight the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS).
{mosads}Afterward, the House may begin lengthy debate of the continuing resolution and amendment. Votes would be rolled to Wednesday.
The House may also consider a series of bills under suspension of the rules, including a bill to direct the Department of Veterans Affairs to increase the rate of veterans’ disability compensation by Dec. 1.
The Senate starts at 10 a.m. and will recess from 12:30-2:15 p.m. for weekly caucus luncheons. Votes on several Obama nominations will start at 2:15 p.m.
Two of the nominations are to the Nuclear Regulatory Commission. The Senate voted to advance those nominations on Monday.
