Thursday: ISIS briefing, vote to roll back O-Care

The House will vote Thursday on a bill that would allow people to grandfather their insurance plans under the 2010 healthcare law. A vote on the measure, originally slated for Wednesday, has been postponed. 

The House was slated to vote Thursday on a stopgap funding bill to avoid a shutdown on Oct. 1, but it has been delayed until next week as members consider including an authorization to arm Syrian rebels fighting the Islamic State in Iraq and Syria (ISIS).

{mosads}The Senate starts at 9:30 a.m. and will continue to debate two Democratic priorities: equal pay for women and campaign finance reform.

On Wednesday, Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.) filed cloture on the constitutional amendment to reverse two recent Supreme Court decisions on campaign spending.

That same day, the Senate voted 73-25 to end debate on the motion to proceed to the Paycheck Fairness Act, which aims to ensure women receive equal pay for equal work.

Procedural votes on the advancement of those two measures are expected Thursday afternoon as well as the confirmation of several of President Obama’s nominees.

Lawmakers in both chambers will also be briefed by the White House on ISIS at 11 a.m. They will also hold a moment of silence to remember the 13th anniversary of the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks.
