Wednesday: O-Care, campaign spending limits

The House will vote on a bill to allow individuals to keep their insurance plans under the healthcare law.

The measure is sponsored by Rep. Bill Cassidy (R-La.), who is in a closely watched race to unseat Sen. Mary Landrieu (D-La.) that may decide control of the Senate next year.

{mosads}The Senate will start at 9:30 a.m. and will continue to debate a constitutional amendment meant to reverse two recent Supreme Court decisions on campaign spending

At 2 p.m. the Senate will adopt the motion to proceed to consideration of the bill through a voice-vote. The next roll call vote on the measure is expected Thursday, when Republicans will vote to kill the bill.

Senate leaders are also working on possibly holding a vote Wednesday on the Paycheck Fairness Act, which aims to ensure equal pay for equal work by women. That bill is part of Democrats “fair shot” agenda, which they’re using to draw contrast between the political parties.

Republicans already blocked that legislation once this year. They have accused Democrats of holding political show votes ahead of the midterm elections — the results of which could flip control of the Senate.
