McConnell: SCOTUS decision ‘unanimous rebuke’ of Obama

Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) on Thursday praised the Supreme Court decision that ruled President Obama’s recess appointments to the National Labor Relations Board unconstitutional.

“Today’s decision was clear, and it was a unanimous rebuke of the president,” McConnell said on the Senate floor shortly after the decision was released.

{mosads}”Like my Republican colleagues and I have said all along, President Obama’s so-called ‘recess’ appointments to the NLRB in 2012 were a wholly unprecedented act of lawlessness,” McConnell said.

McConnell accused the administration of selectively enforcing laws in areas apart from appointing executive branch officials while the Senate is not in session.

“The administration’s tendency to abide only by the laws it likes represents a disturbing and dangerous threat to the rule of law. That’s true whether we’re talking about recess appointments or Obamacare,” McConnell said. “So I hope the Obama administration will take away the appropriate lessons.”
