Senate confirms Ninth Circuit nominee after two-week delay

The Senate voted 51-40 Monday to confirm Michelle Friedland to be U.S. Circuit Judge for the Ninth Circuit.

{mosads}Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.) wanted to confirm Friedland before the two-week Easter recess. He even threatened weekend work, but as usual Reid bailed on the idea and rescheduled the vote for when lawmakers returned today.

On Monday evening, the Senate also voted 51-42 to confirm David Weil to be administrator of the Department of Labor’s wage and hour division.

And Katherine O’Regan was confirmed to be an Assistant Secretary of Housing and Urban Development by voice-vote.
