Dems borrow from GOP with ‘The Lorax’

Sens. Ed Markey (D-Mass.) and Richard Blumenthal (D-Conn.) borrowed from the GOP during a climate change talkathon and quoted a Dr. Seuss book on the Senate floor.

Markey was the first to cite the Dr. Seuss classic, “The Lorax,” during a more than 12-hour talkathon on Monday night.

{mosads}”‘Unless someone like you cares a whole awful lot, nothing is going to get better, it’s not,'” Markey read before thanking the others who “care a whole awful lot.”

Blumenthal echoed Markey’s sentiments and also quoted the book, saying perhaps “our children know more” about climate change than adults because of books such as “The Lorax.”

Sens. Brian Schatz (D-Hawaii), Sheldon Whitehouse (D-R.I.) and Barbara Boxer (D-Calif.) are leading the charge and more than 20 other Democrats participated, including members of leadership, in the Senate’s 35th all-night session.

During the last all-night Senate session, Sen. Ted Cruz (D-Texas) read “Green Eggs and Ham” to his daughters from the Senate floor when speaking for nearly 21 hours.

Sarah Palin got a standing ovation at the Conservative Political Action Conference over the weekend after doing her own rendition of “Green Eggs and Ham” to mock ObamaCare.
