Senate bill extends therapeutic services in rural areas

The Senate passed a bill Monday that extends supervised outpatient therapeutic services in rural areas for the rest of 2014.

{mosads}Sen. Jerry Moran (R-Kan.) introduced S. 1954, which would provide for the extension of the enforcement instruction on supervision requirements for outpatient therapeutic services in critical access and small rural hospitals through 2014.

The Senate passed the measure through a unanimous consent agreement, sending the bill to the House for further action.

Before the Senate adjourned for the evening, it also accepted Sen. Max Baucus’ (D-Mont.) letter of resignation. Last week, the Senate voted 96-0 to confirm him as the new ambassador to China.
