Tuesday: Veterans, nomination

The House will vote Tuesday on legislation aimed at curbing the suicide rate for female veterans.

The legislation, from Rep. Julia Brownley (D-Calif.), is one of a dozen largely veteran-related bills that House lawmakers are expected to take up on Tuesday.

{mosads}While the House will convene at noon for morning hour and 2 p.m. for legislative business, votes have been postponed until 6:30 p.m.

Meanwhile, the Senate will vote on Scot Alan Marciel’s nomination to be ambassador to Burma.

The vote, which is scheduled for 2:15 p.m., comes as lawmakers are continuing to try to find a deal on aid for the Flint, Mich., drinking water crisis that has stalled an otherwise bipartisan energy bill.

Senators suggested on Monday that while they had negotiated through the weekend a deal remained elusive.

Senators are also expected to recess from 12:30 p.m. to 2:15 p.m. for weekly policy lunches.
