Monday: Judicial nomination
The Senate will vote Monday on Rebecca Ebinger’s nomination to be a U.S. district judge for the Northern District of Iowa.
Senators are expected to convene at 2 p.m. on Monday. They’ll move to Ebinger’s nomination at 5 p.m., with a vote expected at 5:30 p.m.
{mosads}Monday’s vote is part of deal lawmakers reached late last year to vote on five judicial nomination’s before the Senate’s week-long recess in mid-February.
Republicans are under pressure to block President Obama’s non-national security nominations, with Heritage Action, a conservative outside group, saying they “reserve the right to key vote against any and all judicial nominees retroactively.”
Despite that, senators have voted to confirm three judicial nominations so far this year.
The House isn’t in session Monday.
