Monday: Sanctions, nominations
The House is expected to take up new North Korea sanctions legislation on Monday in the wake of a reported hydrogen bomb test.
House lawmakers will vote on nine pieces of legislation on Monday under suspension of the rules, including the proposal from House Foreign Affairs Committee Chairman Ed Royce (R-Calif.) that would block North Korea’s access to hard currency and target its assets for nuclear development.
{mosads}Votes in the House are expected at 6:30 p.m.
Meanwhile, the Senate will vote on Luis Restrepo’s nomination to be a U.S. district judge for the Third Circuit.
Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) scheduled the vote on his nomination before senators left last month for the holiday recess.
Senators are expected to convene at 2 p.m., with a vote on Restrepo’s nomination expected at 5:30 p.m.
