Tuesday: Terrorism, omnibus

House lawmakers on Tuesday will vote on legislation taking aim at terrorist groups’ use of social media.

The House is expected to convene at noon for morning hour and 2 p.m. for legislative business. A vote on two proposals, including Rep. Ted Poe’s legislation, are expected at 6:30 p.m.

{mosads}Meanwhile, the Senate is expected to spend most of the day in morning business, which will allow senators to give general speeches.

No votes are currently scheduled in the Senate, but lawmakers are expected to recess from 12:30 p.m. to 2:15 p.m. for weekly policy lunches.

Lawmakers are still waiting for the omnibus spending bill to be released, with Republican senators suggesting on Monday evening that they are close to a deal.

House Speaker Paul Ryan (R-Wis.) said Tuesday morning that the omnibus would be filed later Tuesday, which could allow the House to vote on Thursday.

With lawmakers facing a Wednesday deadline to pass spending legislation, they’ll need to pass another short-term continuing resolution to avoid a shutdown.
