Monday: Government funding, ObamaCare

The Senate will take a procedural vote Monday on a short-term spending bill, days before the deadline to fund the government.

Senators are expected to convene at 4:30 p.m. to restart debate over legislation that would fund the government through Dec. 11 and continue federal funding for Planned Parenthood.

{mosads}The move comes after nearly every Democrat—and eight Republicans—voted against moving forward with legislation that would have funded the government but defunded Planned Parenthood.

Monday’s procedural vote will pave the way for a final vote on the funding bill, likely on Tuesday, sending the bill to the House before the end-of-the-month deadline to avoid a government shutdown.

The Senate is expected to vote at 5:30 p.m.

Meanwhile, the House will take up approximately a dozen pieces of legislation under suspension of the rules, including a bill that would amend the Affordable Care Act to classify employees with between 51 and 100 employees as “large employers.”

Votes in the House are expected at 6:30 p.m.
