Monday: Abortion debate
The Senate is expected to debate a ban on abortions at 20-weeks of pregnancy, ahead of a procedural vote on Tuesday.
Senators will convene at 2 p.m., with debate on the House-passed bill expected to start after remarks from Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) and Minority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.).
{mosads}Republicans will need 60 votes to overcome a procedural hurdle on ending debate to proceed to the bill during Tuesday’s vote. But the bill is expected to fall short, with a similar Senate proposal only garnering 45 cosponsors — all Republicans.
No votes are scheduled in the Senate for Monday, and the House isn’t in session.
