Thursday: Iran debate
House lawmakers will start their work on a trio of bills on the Iran nuclear agreement, after Republican leadership had to scuttle a resolution of disapproval.
The House is expected to take up a resolution determining whether or not the Obama administration handed over the entirety of the Iran nuclear agreement.
Some Republicans argue that because Congress hasn’t received side deals between Iran and the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), the 60-day review period hasn’t officially begun.
House lawmakers will also start consideration of a resolution of approval of the Iran nuclear deal.
Votes in the House are expected from 1:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. and 4:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m.
Meanwhile, senators are expected to continue debating a resolution of disapproval.
Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) moved to end debate on the resolution on Wednesday evening. Under Senate rules, that would set up the first procedural vote for Friday.
But the Republican leader said he was “optimistic” that a vote could occur Thursday.
No votes are currently scheduled.
