Monday: No Child Left Behind, Hurricane Sandy
Senators will vote Monday on amendments to the Every Child Achieves Act, the Senate’s overhaul of the Bush-era No Child Left Behind law.
The Senate is expected to convene at 3 p.m. for leader remarks, before restarting debate on the legislation.
{mosads}Senators are expected to vote at 5:30 p.m. on an amendment to the legislation from Sen. Orrin Hatch (R-Utah) on student privacy and a separate proposal from Sen. Tim Kaine (D-Va.) on ensuring students are ready for college.
The Senate is expected to wrap up its work on the bill this week, setting up a conference between House and Senate lawmakers to work on their differences on the bill.
Meanwhile, the House will convene at noon for morning hour debate and 2 p.m. for legislative business. House lawmakers are expected to vote on a handful of noncontroversial bills, including legislation to provide loans for those impacted by Hurricane Sandy, at 6:30 p.m.
