Tuesday: No Child Left Behind fix, Interior funding
The Senate will start work on its overhaul of the Bush-era No Child Left Behind law on Tuesday.
Senators are expected to convene at 2:30 p.m. for leader remarks after a week-long break. They’ll then take up the Every Child Achieves Act, which passed unanimously out of the Senate Health, Education, Labor, and Pensions Committee earlier this year.
{mosads}The legislation would overhaul the No Child Left Behind Act, transferring more decision making power back to state and local school districts.
Senators are also expected to vote at 5:30 p.m. on Kara Farnandez Stoll’s nomination to be a U.S. circuit judge for the federal circuit.
Meanwhile, the House will take up three noncontroversial bills. Members are also expected to submit amendments to the Interior appropriations bill.
Votes in the House aren’t expected until 6:30 p.m.
