Thursday: Appropriations, NDAA

The House is supposed to finish up its work on a spending bill Thursday.

House lawmakers are expected to vote on a spending bill for the Departments of Transportation and Housing and Urban Development. Votes in the House are expected between 11 a.m. and noon, likely the final House votes of the week, with no votes expected on Friday.

{mosads}Meanwhile, senators are expected to continue work on an annual defense bill.

Senators are currently scheduled to take two votes on amendments to the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA), though more votes could be scheduled later Thursday.

The defense bill lays out broad policy and spending requirements for the Defense Department.

Senators have recently scrambled to finish up their work on the bill at the end of the year, but Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.) said Wednesday that senators need to finish up their work by the end of next week.

The White House is threatening to veto the NDAA.
