Thursday: Carter nomination, tax extenders
The House will vote to extend tax credits for charitable giving on Thursday, while the Senate will confirm Ashton Carter as Defense secretary.
Thursday’s tax extenders measure is the first of two packages on the House floor this week. Another bill slated for a vote on Friday would permanently extend tax credits for small businesses.
{mosads}The House will meet at 10 a.m. for morning hour debate and noon for legislative business. The first vote series is expected around 2 p.m., while the vote on final passage of the charitable giving tax extender measure will likely occur in the late afternoon.
Meanwhile, the Senate will convene at 9:30 a.m. for leadership remarks. At 10:30 a.m., the Senate will proceed to executive session to consider Ashton Carter’s nomination as Secretary of Defense. A vote to confirm Carter will be at 2 p.m.
