ISIS threat dominates House hearings next week
Two House committees, Homeland Security and Foreign Affairs, will discuss the threat of Sunni militant group Islamic State in Iraq and Syria (ISIS) next week.
Both hearings will start at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 10. State Department officials will testify before the House Foreign Affairs Committee, which will focus on the genocide of religious minorities in Syria and Iraq by ISIS. Witnesses have not yet been announced for the House Homeland Security Committee’s hearing.
{mosads}Also Wednesday, the House Ways and Means subcommittee on health will hear testimony from Internal Revenue Service Commissioner John Koskinen and Andy Slavitt, deputy principal administrator of the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services, on the implementation of the healthcare law.
On Tuesday, the House Judiciary Committee will hear testimony from the Justice Department inspector general, Michael Horowitz, on whether his office has access to necessary information to conduct oversight.
