Tuesday: Cyber, highway funding

The Senate could take a final vote on a long-stalled cyber bill on Tuesday afternoon.

Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) set up a series of votes on the Cybersecurity Information Sharing Act (CISA), including a final vote on a slate of amendments.

{mosads}Senators also need to vote to end debate on CISA, which will require 60 supporters. If successful, that will pave the way for a final vote on the cyber bill on Tuesday afternoon.

While the legislation — aimed at increasing information sharing between the government and businesses about cyber threats — has gotten pushback from privacy advocates, it’s expected to pass on Tuesday.

The Senate is expected to take votes at 11 a.m. and 4 p.m. on the cyber bill.

Meanwhile, the House is expected to take up a short-term highway funding bill.

With lawmakers not expected to pass a long-term bill by the end-of-the-month deadline, House members will instead vote on a three-week extension. Under the legislation, federal transportation spending would be extended until Nov. 20.

Votes in the House are expected between 1:30 p.m. and 2:30 p.m. and betweeen 4:45 p.m. and 5:45 p.m.
