Judge Should Drop Charges Against Jena Six (Rep. Carolyn C. Kilpatrick)

Children all across our nation stand and pledge their allegiance to our flag which waves the promises of liberty and justice for all. Yet in countless communities, like Jena, Louisiana, our judicial system is being prejudiced by racial intolerance, leaving an indelible mark on the law.

The Congressional Black Caucus believes the law must provide equal access and opportunity for all Americans. If justice is truly blind, the judge will drop the charges against all six young men and pledge their support to healing the breach in this community. The CBC stands in solidarity with the coalition of conscience and supports the September 20th demonstration in Jena.

Congresswoman Carolyn C. Kilpatrick chairs the Congressional Black Caucus.
