Women’s Rights in the 21st Century Workforce
I am excited to join with Lois Capps in leading the Congressional Women’s Caucus into its 30th year of representing women in our nation’s government. The Women’s Caucus presents a unique opportunity to set and accomplish a strong, bipartisan agenda that will positively impact women nationally and internationally.
Of particular interest to me, is increasing the number of women who pursue high demand career fields in mathematics, science and engineering. Nationally, our focus must turn to developing a 21st Century workforce. Foreign competition in the fields of math and science is leaving America at a competitive disadvantage.
While the U.S. still leads the world in scientific and technological innovation, our nation must grow to meet the new realities of an increasingly global environment. Women will play an increasing role in helping America to maintain its competitive advantage.
In moving forward for the 110th Congress, I encourage active participation by the Caucus’ new and returning members. Let this Caucus be a place of innovation, collaboration and accomplishment.
