Tuesday the House overwhelmingly passed H.R. 3087, the bipartisan bill I introduced with Rep. Neil Abercrombie (D-Hawaii), Rep. Phil English (R-Pa.) and a bipartisan coalition of members. Our bill increases oversight of the Iraq war by requiring the administration to report Congress within 60 days — and every 90 days thereafter — on the status of its planning for redeployment.
This is a step toward us working together as a Congress instead of a Democratic Caucus or a Republican Conference to constructively engage the administration on its plans for our men and women in uniform. I am proud that we are working across party lines to achieve these goals, because our soldiers, sailors, airmen, Marines and Guardsmen fight in the name of our country, not the Democratic Party or Republican Party.
