While our star-spangled banner can fly o’er the land of the free and the home of the brave, it cannot fly over the United States Capitol in honor of God or any other form of religious expression, according to the Architect of the Capitol (AOC). Last week, I requested a flag to be flown “in honor of the citizens of the 11th District of Texas for their love of God, Country, and family.
Along with many other Members of Congress, I disagree with the Architect of the Capitol’s rule for Flag Office Services, which states: “…religious expressions are not permitted on flag certificates.
