A little over a year ago I had the opportunity to speak with former Prime Minister Bhutto and was convinced she could play a beneficial role in our ally’s future. Her assassination was a tragic and cowardly act that dealt a great blow to Pakistan’s democratic process and underscored its need for stability. This resolution is the least we could do in Congress to express our sincere condolences to her family, to the other victims’ families and to the Pakistani people.
