The left continues to fight action on the border crisis
The left has so misrepresented the state of our southern border that they simply cannot be trusted. For months, Democrats and their media accomplices denied the crisis on the border. They claimed that President Trump and conservatives had “manufactured” the crisis for political gain. Their statements were lies. While they pandered to their base and defamed the president and his allies, the problem continued to grow until it became a full-fledged emergency.
Once the reality began to sink in, the left changed narratives. They asserted that the U.S. government was running Nazi style concentration camps and committing atrocities. Some Democrat members of Congress charged that detained illegal aliens were denied clean drinking water and hygiene products.
Turns out that a group of pastors from the National Hispanic Christian Leadership Conference visited the same facilities on the same day as congressional accusers and observed no inhumane treatment, no denial of food, water, or hygiene products. Oops. The Congresswoman from New York had to publicly admit that there was access to these necessities. But, she still doubled down on her allegations against Customs and Border Patrol (CBP).
Evidence again revealed the left to be prevaricators who simply cannot be trusted to be honest about anything related to the border.
And one must always remember that the left is actually complicit in creating and exacerbating the border emergency.
The leftists of America incentivized illegal entry by first establishing sanctuary cities that refused to cooperate with Immigration and Custom Enforcement (ICE) agents. In fact, sanctuary cities often openly disregard court orders. The lawlessness of the left is reflected in the surge of illegal border crossings.
The left is against enforcing our laws. It argues for the elimination of ICE.
While Democrats were claiming that there was a manufactured crisis on the border, record numbers of illegal aliens were crossing into the U.S. and overwhelming our CBP agents and their facilities.
In fact, even though there was a slowdown last month, we still apprehended about 3,500 people a day—over 100,000 a month. Between CBP and ICE, there is an ongoing bed deficit of nearly 25,000 beds. The result is that CBP and ICE are forced to release thousands of illegal aliens into the U.S. each month.
And ultimately the left bears a tremendous amount of the blame, first for ignoring the crisis, then for undermining any attempts to solve the problem.
Democrats and the radical left oppose the removal from the U.S. of those ordered to be deported by judges. Remember that there are hundreds of thousands of people who have been ordered out of our nation after receiving an uncommon amount of due process. The due process they receive is more than in any other nation.
In the meantime, national Democrats demand that existing border fencing be torn down, and that U.S. citizens be coerced into paying for the health care of illegal aliens in America.
The narrative of the left is wobbly and teetering on obsolescence on this issue. Their credibility is shot. I wonder why anyone would believe them or even listen to their rhetoric regarding border issues.
So what’s next for the left? Turns out it’s doubling down against the Border Patrol. Democrats and their leftist media sycophants blame the Border Patrol for every unfortunate thing that occurs on the border. They conveniently ignore the thousands of lives saved every year by CBP agents doing their jobs. Agents rescue illegal border crossers who traverse the scorching deserts of the American southwest, try to cross the Rio Grande, or turn their infants and children over to ruthless human trafficking cartels.
But, then, in examining the facts and the repetitive nature of their misrepresentations about the border crisis, especially of the perpetuation of the catch-and-release program and the demonization of CBP and ICE agents, I can only assume that leftists are getting exactly what they have wanted: a de-facto open border.
