Inaugural Committee: Families Should Have a Plan

The Presidential Inauguration Committee (PIC) today encouraged families attending President-elect Barack Obama’s inauguration festivities to have plans in case children are separated from their parents.

The Red Cross, the PIC said, will have 32 “Go Teams” in the vicinity “to help children and people in distress on the Mall.”

The PIC suggested that families plan meeting places in the area in case they get separated.

“As with any large crowd situation, a little common sense and forethought will help visitors to the National Mall avoid major headaches. We’re pleased to have the assistance of the Red Cross, which will be there to aid people during Tuesday’s inaugural events,” PIC Executive Director Emmett S. Beliveau said in a statement e-mailed to press.
