GQ Names Obama One of Their ‘Men of the Year’

President-elect Barack Obama has been named one of GQ magazine’s four “Men of the Year,” joining actors and athletes who round out the list.

The magazine called Obama the “game changer of the year,” putting Obama beside Olympic athlete Michael Phelps and actors Leonardo DiCaprio and John Hamm.

“Through his candidacy, Obama has provided a glimpse of a stronger, better, fairer America, where change comes from the bottom up, where we all come together to meet the great challenges of our time,” wrote Sen. Ted Kennedy (D-Mass.) in an essay for the magazine acclaiming his former Senate colleage.

“It was time again, I had decided, for ‘a new generation of leadership’ and I could not stand aside,” said Kennedy, whose endorsement of Obama during the hotly-contested Democratic primaries were seen as a key turning point in the campaign.
