Jackson Jr. Tears Up — Again

Rep. Jesse Jackson Jr. (D-Ill.) appeared to tear up during his news conference Thursday in which he denied wrongdoing in his efforts to secure a Senate seat. The moment came when Jackson recounted the text message of support his sister sent him. Jackson on Wednesday morning began to face questions over whether he was involved in the pay-to-play scheme allegedly conducted by Illinois Gov. Rod Blagojevich (D).

“She told me, ‘I’m proud of you,'” Jackson said after gathering himself in front of reporters.

It’s not the first time Jackson has gotten emotional in public. During an event for Illinois delegates at the Democratic National Convention, he teared up after receiving a hug from his former rival, Chicago Mayor Richard Daley. Jackson was crying so hard he needed to turn his back to the podium and the audience.
