Former Boxer aide sentenced on child porn charges

A former aide to Sen. Barbara Boxer (D-Calif.) was sentenced on Friday to five years in prison for possessing child pornography according to the FBI.

Jeff Rosato, 32, a former legislative assistant to Boxer, was also sentenced by U.S. District Court Judge T.S. Ellis III to 15 years of supervised release and required to register as a sex offender following his release from prison.

Rosato, who also worked as a staff assistant to former Rep. Robert Torricelli (D-N.J.), pled guilty in January to receiving child pornography after federal authorities discovered in 2007 that he had obtained several graphic pictures of children using a Google photo-sharing program according to court documents.

After confiscating Rosato’s computer from his home, federal investigators found “thousands of images and several movies of child pornography and child erotica” according to the FBI.

Rosato was arrested and fired by Boxer’s office in November.
